SAN FRANCISCO – In a surprise move, Metallica played one of their most famous singles for the first time as they celebrate 40 years.
Metallica, one of the most well-known heavy metal bands played the 1997 single “Fixxxer” for the first time live as they played at a 40th Anniversary Concert performed at San Francisco’s Chase Center.
Metallica also performed “Trapped Under Ice” and “The End of the Line” as well as “Nothing Else Matters” and “Sad but True.”
The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009. Metallica was formed in 1981 in Los Angeles by James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich and later based itself in San Francisco.
